    Faculty Position in Athletic Training
    Appointment Effective January 1, 2001

    POSITION: Assistant Professor, tenure-track appointment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in
    athletic training and related areas, conducting nationally visible, fundable research, and advising
    undergraduate/master's theses and doctoral dissertations.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate, NATA certification, and eligibility for Delaware licensure (ATC)
    required. Demonstrated ability to conduct research and acquire funding for research preferred.
    Positive CAAHEP teaching experience desirable. The successful applicant will be expected to
    interface positively with current faculty in Athletic Training and the Exercise Sciences.

    GENERAL INFORMATION: Located in Newark, Delaware, the University of Delaware is one of the oldest
    institutions of higher education in the country combining tradition and innovation and offering
    students a rich heritage combined with the latest in instructional and research technology. The
    educational programs of seven colleges supported 21,206 students in 1999, including 16,162
    undergraduate students, 3,108 graduate students, and 1,936 continuing education students. Entering
    1999 freshmen typically ranked in the top quarter of their high-school graduating classes with SAT
    (Verbal and Mathematics) scores well above the national average for college-bound students. The
    Department of Health and Exercise Sciences represents the largest and fastest growing academic unit
    in the College of Health and Nursing Sciences, possessing over 600 student majors participating in
    four undergraduate degree programs that include Health and Physical Education, Recreation and Park
    Administration, Athletic Training, and Exercise & Sport Science. Graduate programs of study
    supporting over 60 students provide advanced research-oriented programs of study in Biomechanics,
    Exercise Physiology, and Health Promotion. The department is involved in offering the BS, MS, and
    Ph.D. degrees supported by 30 full time faculty/professionals who possess strong interdisciplinary
    backgrounds.

    SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
