DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SCIENCES
RESEARCH ASSISTANT
£16,775 - £18,731 per annum
Habituation In Virtual Environments
This 2 year project, funded by EPSRC, will examine habituation to
visually-invoked simulation sickness in virtual environments by carrying
out experimental studies with human subjects in computer simulated and real
moving scenarios. It is envisaged that the post will appeal to people with
a background of experimental psychology, ergonomics, human biology,
mechanical or systems engineering. The successful candidate will have an
ability to work with human subjects, and ideally practical experience of
running experiments with human participants. Applicants should have a 2:1
or masters degree in a relevant discipline, be well organised and with
experience of using MS Office and statistics software. The successful
candidate will have the opportunity to register for a part-time PhD, and
would normally be expected to do so.
Knowledge in the following areas would be advantageous but is not
essential: motion sickness, virtual reality, computer games, human response
to vibration, the human visual system, the human vestibular system, human
physiology, human biology, ergonomics, psychology and health and safety.
Information on our previous research in the area of health and virtual
environments, can be found at
