    Position Announcement at Marquette University
    Assistant Professor, Program in Exercise Science
    The Program in Exercise Science in the Department of Physical Therapy at
    Marquette University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor
    position to begin August, 2001. Our program includes the opportunity to
    work with a diverse student population and includes teaching and multi
    disciplinary research opportunities. New faculty will help shape this new
    well equipped undergraduate program. The chosen candidate will join a
    dynamic faculty comprised of exercise physiologists, physical therapists
    and athletic trainers. The candidate must also indicate a commitment to
    multi cultural education, a demonstrated success in attracting external
    funds, and sensitivity to the needs of minority students. This is a ten
    month (additional support of summer research efforts possible) tenure track
    position.

    SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. An earned doctorate in the area of Biomechanics/Kinesiology, or a
    related field, and two or more years of post-doctoral experience strongly
    suggested.
    2. Evidence of potential for research or a current research agenda and
    successful grant writing.
    3. Demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching and active participation
    in allied professional organizations.
    4. Previous teaching and laboratory experience in exercise
    physiology/biomechanics desired. Ability to develop, establish and direct
    kinesiology/biomechanics with movement analysis /or cardiopulmonary testing.
    5. Applicants should have primary expertise in aging/geriatrics or women's
    health as they relate to biomechanics. Sub-specialties should include one
    or more of the following: assessment of sport performance, conditioning
    and fitness, sports nutrition, or motion/movement analysis.
    6. PT or ATC preferred but not required.
    7. NSCA and/or ACSM certification desirable but not required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Instruct and advise at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
    Courses taught will include kinesiology/biomechanics. Other courses may
    include nutrition and performance, exercise and special populations,
    exercise testing, prescription, or other advanced electives. Many
    courses will have laboratories
    2. Provide leadership for a newly developed undergraduate exercise testing
    or motion analysis labs.
    3. Conduct independent and collaborative research, grant writing and pursue
    external funding. Publish in exercise physiology or other related journals.
    4. Other duties and responsibilities will include directing and serving on
    theses committees, serving on departmental and university committees and
    providing appropriate community service.

    The College of Health Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy, Program in
    Exercise Science has the following position available:

    POSITION: Clinical Faculty (Strength Specialist or Personal Trainer)

    RESPONSIBILITIES: This clinical faculty opening is a 12 month position.
    Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate exercise science students
    in the areas of strength, conditioning, and exercise leadership and
    mentoring students. Additional development of upper division exercise
    science electives and student advising required. Candidate must also
    demonstrate ability to conduct research with student involvement and have
    experience with diverse athletic populations.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a minimum of a masters degree in exercise
    science or related field with NSCA CSCS*D or ACSM equivalent required.
    Demonstrated College teaching experience required. PT and/or ATC desired
    but not required. Applicants should be able to show significant commitment
    to their profession, as well as professional experience in strength,
    fitness, wellness or corporate fitness settings. Experience with cultural
    diversity, disadvantaged populations and women's health a plus.

    SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    The College of Health Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy, Program in
    Exercise Science has the following position available:

    POSITION: Practicum Coordinator

    RESPONSIBILITIES: The clinical faculty opening in Exercise Science is a 12
    month, full-time position. Responsibilities include assisting students
    with Practicum/Internship placement and the supervision of these same
    students during internship. Maintaining data base of practicum sites and
    files of internship information. Continuing development of new sites that
    would include fitness, wellness, athletic training, corporate and clinical
    centers. The coordinator is responsible for evaluation and assessment of
    student experiences during the internships, as well as teaching
    professional skills classes and student advising.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a masters degree in exercise science or related
    field with NSCA or ACSM certifications. PT and/or ATC desired. Applicants
    should demonstrate practical experience in a fitness, wellness or corporate
    fitness settings. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational
    skills are essential. Experience with cultural diversity, disadvantaged
    populations and women's issues a plus. College teaching experience desired.

    SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
