    RESEARCH ENGINEER

    A Research Engineer position is available in the Sensory Motor
    Performance Program (SMPP) at the Rehabilitation Institute of
    Chicago.  This is a full-time position with guaranteed NIH funding
    for at least 5 years.  The Research Engineer will provide technical
    support for Northwestern faculty members and other researchers at SMPP, a
    facility dedicated to the examination of the human sensorimotor system
    and its rehabilitation following damage.

    The Research Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the design and
    construction of electromechanical actuators, transducers, data
    acquisition systems, and related software.  Minimum requirements
    include a BS or MS in ME or EE with experience in the areas of
    electronics, instrumentation, and machining.  Knowledge of
    biomechanics, real-time control, and robotics would be an asset.

    Opportunities exist for collaborative involvement with various research
    projects.  Salary is negotiable, depending on experience.
