Biomedical Engineering at Surrey, is offering an opportunity to join our
research programme in Direct Attachment Osseointegration implants for
artificial limbs. The specific project, which forms part of a spectrum of
research, is aimed at modelling the Titanium implant/Bone structure in 3D
format which can be used as a key element in surgical planning and
optimisation of the technique.

Salary up to £18,185 depending on qualifications and experience
We are seeking a Research Fellow to investigate 3D FE modelling of implants
for trans-femoral osseointegrated percutaneous attachment of prosthetic
limbs. The project, part of a comprehensive program of R&D in
osseointegration, is supported by an EPSRC research grant. It involves
3D solid model reconstruction from clinical CT image, FE analysis of
osseointegrated trans-femoral implants and the assessment of the
implantation. Ideally, candidates should have experience of C++
programming and FE software and have a background in biomedical
engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or computer engineering.
The post is in the Biomedical Engineering Group of the School of Mechanical
& Materials Engineering at the University of Surrey and forms part of a
collaborative project with Queen Mary’s Hospital, London and the Institute
of Applied Biotechnology, Gothenburg. Initially, the position will be a
