    Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory

    Summary: The Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory at Harvard Medical School
    has an immediate opening for an Instructor or a Post-doctoral fellow in
    cartilage and bone research.

    Responsibilities: The candidate will be part of a dynamic group of medical
    doctors, research engineers, and students in orthopedic biomechanics
    research. He or she will participate and provide leadership in ongoing
    cartilage and bone research in the laboratory. The candidate must also
    pursue independent research in biomechanics. He or she will be expected to
    participate in teaching of orthopedic residents and medical
    students. Collaboration is both expected and greatly encouraged with
    colleagues within the laboratory and within the Harvard medical school.

    Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in biomechanics,
    bioengineering, or mechanical engineering and demonstrate evidence of
    scholarly accomplishments. Prior research experience in cartilage mechanics
    is required. Good oral and written communication skills are essential, and
    strong background in computer programming is essential.

    Salary: The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with
    experience. This position includes a full compensation and benefits package.

    General Information: The Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory (OBL) is a
    multi-disciplinary research facility involved in basic and applied research
    in musculoskeletal biomechanics. The OBL has a commitment to perform
    professional investigations in the basic and applied research of
    musculoskeletal biomechanics, while maintaining the respect and compassion
    for all human and animal life. As a part of this overall mission, the
    laboratory provides training to students and fellows, who will become the
    professional researchers and health care professionals of the future.

    The Laboratory occupies 5,200 square feet on the first floor of Research
    North, comprising of both research laboratory and office space. Major
    facilities within the OBL include: mechanical testing, micro-CT,
    biomaterials/biochemistry, bone densitometry, sports medicine, joint
    kinemtaics and spinal biomechanics.
