The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of
Virginia invites applications for the position of Research Scientist. This
position requires a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a Master's Degree
with equivalent experience along with a strong background in accident
reconstruction and crash/impact biomechanics studies. Position involves
the analysis of research data (e.g., emergency room reports, police
reports) and the use of that data to construct testing models. Applicants
should have a background in biomechanical testing and impact sled testing.
In addition, the position requires involvement with impact testing that may
include the use of biological materials. Applications are in automobile
passenger and pedestrian safety, injury prevention, and biomechanics.
