FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Kinesiology announces the availability of a tenure-track
position with a commitment to teaching excellence, scholarly productivity,
and service to the profession in the area of Human Motor
Control. The appointment will be effective August, 2001.
LSU, founded in 1853, is the state's comprehensive research university.
According to the National Research Council, LSU consistently ranks among
the top 30 universities in total federal, state, and private expenditures.
Student enrollment at LSU is more than 30,000 students, including about
4,500 graduate students. The Department of Kinesiology, located in the
College of Education, has more than 600 undergraduate majors and 90
graduate students. Undergraduate majors receive a B.S. in Kinesiology, and
may emphasize human movement science, fitness studies, sport studies, and
health and physical education teacher certification. At the graduate level,
the Department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Graduate program
concentrations include Exercise Physiology (with specializations in
Clinical Exercise Physiology and Basic Exercise Physiology), Motor Behavior
(which includes specializations in Biomechanics, Motor Control, and Motor
Learning), and Pedagogy.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, or a related field.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong potential to establish an independent
research program consistent with expectations of a research university, and
to teach at least one undergraduate course in neuromotor control of human
movement, and one or more graduate courses related to motor control.
Preference will be given to candidates whose research focus relates to
motor control issues as they relate to aging and/or physical
rehabilitation.
Responsibilities: (1) Teach undergraduate and graduate classes; (2)
conduct scholarly research; (3) advise graduate students; (4) direct theses
and dissertations; (5) seek external support for scholarly activities; and
(6) perform service to the department, college, university, and profession.
Rank: Assistant Professor
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Application Deadline: Evaluation of applications will begin February 1, 2001, and will continue until the position is filled.

transcripts, and the names of three people who could be asked to write
