Electrical Engineer/Computer Scientist
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Health Effect
Laboratory Division in Morgantown, West Virginia, is seeking applicants for
multiple positions (2 possibly 3) in the areas of electrical engineering or
computer science. Salary commensurate with experience
Job Description:
In conjunction with other research personnel, develop and maintain software
and instrumentation that will be used to assess the effects of hand
transmitted vibration on workers. The successful applicants will write data
acquisition software, maintain test equipment, conduct field and laboratory
tests, perform data analysis, and assist in writing reports and
publications. Extended duties will also include participation in efforts to
develop and/or evaluate new means of mitigating hand transmitted vibration.
Qualifications:
A degree in electrical engineering and/or computer science with at least two
years of experience is preferred. The successful candidates must have a
strong background programming in Visual BASIC, C, or C++, a good working
knowledge of computer hardware, and experience with data acquisition systems
and sensors such as strain gages, accelerometers, and force transducers.
Candidates with experience programming in LabView will receive primary
consideration. Pertinent experience and course studies in vibration testing
and analysis , bio-instrumentation, and/or biomedical engineering will be
considered a plus. The candidates must have good communication skills and be
willing to work as part of a team. US Citizenship is preferred.
