Smith & Nephew, Inc., has immediate openings for the following position in
the Memphis-based Orthopaedic Global Business Unit.
Manager Tribology Research
Hands on, task oriented management of Orthopaedic Tribology department.
Responsible for maintaining expert knowledge in tribology issues related to
hip and knee implants and to anticipate future technical requirements. Also
responsible for the management of engineers, engineer associates, and
technicians. Ability to work with/on Research and Development project teams.
Experience with the following materials preferred: Ti-6Al-4V, CoCr,
Stainless Steel, UHMWPE, and ceramics. Strong oral and written communication
skills required.
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a minimum of five
(5) years engineering experience, of which two years were as a project
manager or equivalent. Masters Degree is a plus. Previous tribology
experience and external publications/presentations preferred.
