    2 Year Postdoctoral Fellowship, Neuroprosthetics
in the frame of the EU project "NeuralPRO".
    (1 year Munich, 1 year London/Salisbury)

The Institute of Automatic Control Engineering (Technical
University of Munich, Germany) and the Department of
Medical Physics and Bioengineering (University College
London, England) invite applications for a postdoctoral
    fellowship in neuroprosthetics.

Design and test of control strategies for a neuroprosthesis
    for paraplegic patients.

    Project description:
In this project control strategies should be designed and
    tested for FES-supported standing-up and sitting-down
movements in paraplegic subjects (FES: functional
electrical stimulation). The candidate will spend the first
year at the Technical University of Munich, in order to
design sensor and closed-loop control strategies on the
basis of a biomechanical model. In the second year the
candidate should work at the University College London
and Salisbury District Hospital, to test these strategies in
a number of paraplegics. The research is part of the
"neuralPRO" research training network, financed by the
EU Human Potential program and will involve close
    cooperation with several European partners.

    Requirements for the candidate:
    - The candidate should have a Ph.D. or related degree
in one of the following fields: Biomedical, Electrical,
or Mechanical Engineering or Movement Sciences,
    Physical Therapy.
    - The candidate should have a background in several of
    the following fields: neuroprosthetics, biomechanics,
    biomedical engineering, system engineering, sensor
systems, control engineering, modelling and simulation,
signal processing, neurophysiology. He/she should be
willing to supplement knowledge in other fields.
    - The candidate should be a national of an EU state
    (but NON-German and NON-British) or a state
    associated with the EU.
    - The candidate should be 34 or younger.

    Starting date:
    As soon as possible.

Candidates should send an application letter, CV, and
    certifications to:
