  • Peak System Digitizing Error

    Greetings to all.
I have a question for users of the Peak System 3/ D digitizing
sytem. A graduate student of mine is in the process of digitizing
elite long jump performances for take off comparisons of Kinematic
data ie. linear and angular displacements and velocities.
    My question is:
What level of digitizing error is acceptable for reasonable
comparisons. The peak system automatically indicates when the
error is more than one percent during the digitizing process. At
what level above 1% should the researcher consider the data as
unacceptable when comparing performances with different degrees
    of error.
We have redigitized the tree standard to varify that the points
are correct but now need to know if we can correct for the error and
how to locate the primary source.
We would appreciate any opinions or advice as we are at a
critical point in presenting and writing up the results of the study.
    Thankyou in advance.
    Tony Bauer.
