    Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Texas at San Antonio is
    offering Masters graduate research assistantships for Spring/Summer/Fall,
    2001. Students will have an opportunity to work on research projects
    intended to elucidate the structure-function relationships of bone and their
    contribution to age and disease related deterioration of bone quality.
    These projects are funded by the Whitaker Foundation and NIH, and are
    conducted in collaboration with the Department of Orthopaedics, University
    of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

    Candidates should hold a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
    disciplines. An interest in applying engineering principles in biomedical
    engineering field. A background in mechanics, modeling, mechanical testing,
    and materials science is helpful. The positions are contingent upon graduate
    admission to University of Texas at San Antonio, with a preferred starting
    date of January 2001. The research assistantship is $15,000/year.
