Academic Staff
We are seeking to expand the department with the appointment of two
new academic staff at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level.
The department of Biological and Medical Systems, a department within
the School of Engineering, applies Engineering and Physical Science
to a wide range of problems in medicine and biology - It has a long
and prestigious history in interdisciplinary research. These new
appointments will offer the opportunity to bring together a range of
skills and interests in other groups within Imperial College. Current
areas of research include advanced diagnostic systems, biodynamics
and mechanics, biophysics of connective tissues, circulatory
mechanics and arterial disease, design of medical user interfaces and
neurological studies, medical and magnetic resonance imaging,
respiratory mechanics and three-dimensional visualisation and virtual
reality. A description of the work of the department, along with

Candidates must have a strong research record, and normally possess a
PhD. Teaching experience in a relevant field is also highly desirable.
Candidates should submit a full curriculum vitae (including a full
list of publications), a description of their activities and research
(1,000 words maximum) and the names and contact details of three
academic referees.
The salary range for Lecturer appointments is £20,865 - £33,101 pa,
inclusive of LA. For Senior Lecturer level, salary range is
£34,644 - £38,874 inclusive of LA. Other associated benefits will be
the normal package for Imperial College academic staff.
