An excellent opportunity exists for a Research Associate in the Department
of Biomedical Engineering, Case Western Reserve University
(http://bme.cwru.edu) and the Cleveland FES Center
(http://feswww.fes.cwru.edu). This is a full-time position with university
benefits and a duration of at least 2 years. Join a dynamic research group
working in the area of neural prostheses, neural control, and neural
modeling with unparalleled opportunities for inter-disciplinary and
collaborative research. An earned doctorate is required and experience in
electrophysiology is desirable.
Current projects include:
o microstimulation of the spinal cord for control of genitourinary and
motor functions
o developing innovative methods for selective stimulation of the nervous system
o sensory recording and stimulation for control of bladder function
o mechanisms and optimization of deep brain stimulation for movement disorders
Tools and techniques include:
o computer-based modeling and neurons and electric fields
o in vivo stimulation and recording in pre-clinical models
o neuroanatomical mapping using immediate early gene expression,
transneural viruses, retrograde tracers, and immunochemistry
o intra-operative clinical experiments
