    Faculty Position Announcement

    The Department of Kinesiology announces the availability of a full-time
    Instructor position in biomechanics and athletic training. The candidate
    will have a commitment to teaching excellence and service to the
    profession. The appointment will be a renewable one-year contract,
    effective August 2001.

    LSU is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research University I,
    and has an enrollment of nearly 30,000 students. The Department of
    Kinesiology, located in the College of Education, has approximately 600
    undergraduate students and 100 graduate students. Undergraduate majors
    receive a B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in human movement science,
    fitness studies, sport studies, health and physical education teacher
    certification, and starting August 2000, athletic training. The M.S. and
    Ph.D. degrees are offered at the graduate level and include emphases in
    exercise physiology, motor behavior, or pedagogy. The Department website

    Qualifications: Earned master's degree in Kinesiology or related field
    required and NATA certification for a minimum of three years with
    eligibility for Louisiana State licensure are required. Preferred
    qualifications include (1) experience teaching biomechanics and athletic
    training courses in a CAAHEP accredited program, (2) knowledgeable of the
    CAAHEP accreditation process, and (3) familiarity with clinical settings.

    Responsibilities: (1) Teach some or all of the following classes:
    Biomechanical Basis of Kinesiology, Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment of
    Athletic Injuries, Anatomy, Practicum in Athletic Training, Prevention and
    Emergency Care of Athletic Injuries, (2) advise athletic training
    undergraduate students, and (3) perform service to department, college,
    university, and profession.

    Rank: Instructor Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and
    experience.
