    Title: Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistantship
    Location: Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, USA

    One Ph.D. graduate research assistantship sponsored by the Louisiana State
    Government is available starting July 1, 2001 for four years. The Healthy
    Excellency Fund of Louisiana awarded this research assistantship to the
    Occupational Research Center in which the Motor Behavior Lab in the
    Department of Kinesiology is included. Research projects will focus on the
    factors that influence the stability and variability of locomotion.
    Research projects will be conducted using an interdisciplinary approach.
    The recipient of this assistantship will be expected to work 20 hours/week
    on these research projects.

    Students in the Motor Behavior Lab will work with a team of faculty members
    from the Department of Kinesiology of the LSU main campus at Baton Rouge,
    Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of the LSU Health Science Center at New
    Orleans. They will have access to state-of-art facilities for their
    research and education needs.

    Eligibility: Applicants must meet the academic qualification of the LSU
    Graduate School. Preference will be given to those who have a background
    in Biomechanics, Mechanics, Motor behavior, Neural Science, Motor control,
    or other kinesiology related areas.

    The assistantship provides stipend of $16,000 per year (two semesters and
    two summer months) with an increment of 5% every year. The assistantship
    also includes a waver of out of state tuition fee (in state tuition must be
    paid by the student).

    Application: In addition to the application material required by the
    Graduate School and graduate program of the department, please also submit
    a written essay on the goal of your graduate education and importance of
    interdisciplinary approaches toward your goal.
