Faculty Position in Biomechanics
POSITION: The School of Physical Education, Wellness, and Sport Studies is
seeking an individual for a 9-month tenure seeking assistant/associate
professor in biomechanics.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a 9-month appointment with the possibility of
summer session employment. The individual will have the responsibility
of teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The applicant
will teach biomechanics as well as courses in other areas such as
wellness and/or motor learning, conduct research to be published in
refereed journals, make presentations at professional meetings, secure
external funding, develop collegial relationships with other
departments on campus, advise students, engage in student activities,
and serve on school, college and university committees.
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate with a specialization in biomechanics
required. Prefer an individual who can also teach courses in wellness
and/or motor learning, has demonstrated competence in university level
teaching, established a research agenda, published in refereed journals,
secured external funding, and has expertise in technology.
GENERAL INFORMATION: The University of South Florida is a
comprehensive metropolitan university and serves nearly 36,000
students with nearly 200 degree programs. The School of Physical
Education, Wellness, and Sport Studies undergraduate program areas
include: Physical Education Teacher Preparation, Wellness Leadership,
Athletic Training, and Elective Physical Education. Degrees are
offered at the baccalaureate and masters levels. There are 12 full-time
faculty members on the professional faculty and 17 supporting adjunct
faculty members. The School is part of the College of Education, which
is the largest urban college in the U.S. and has nationally and
internationally recognized programs and faculty. The College of
Education received over $12 million in external funding last year.
SALARY: Negotiable (9-month position)
STARTING DATE: August 20, 2001
