    We invite applications for a TENURE-TRACK position at the Assistant
    Professor level in the Department of Exercise Science and Physical Education
    at Arizona State University beginning August 2001. We seek a scholar who
    studies muscle physiology or musculoskeletal physiology and uses human
    and/or animal models to examine biological mechanisms. Possible areas of
    research might include but are not limited to: contractile and structural
    properties of muscle tissue, adaptive responses of muscle and/or bone to
    exercise stress, muscle adaptations with injury, disease, and
    rehabilitation, etc. The successful candidate will meet the following
    qualifications: 1) earned doctorate in appropriate discipline, 2) promising
    publication record indicating an orientation towards muscle or
    musculoskeletal physiology, 3) demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate
    and graduate courses in exercise science, and 4) demonstrated commitment to
    conducting laboratory research. Desired qualifications include: 1)
    post-doctoral research experience, 2) college/university teaching
    experience, 3) research focus compatible with research of current faculty in
    exercise physiology, biomechanics, and motor control, and 4) a currently
    funded research program. The candidate will be expected to establish an
    active, externally-funded research program within our Exercise and Sport
    Research Institute, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and train
    graduate students in laboratory research.
