Dear list members,
Many thanks to all those who responded to my request for information on
suppliers of bone equivalent or hydroxyapatite materials. Below is a
summary of the company names and contact details that were forwarded to
me;
Plasma Biotal Ltd
http://www.plasma-biotal.com
Computerized Imaging Reference Systems, Inc
http://www.cirsinc.com
Berkley Advanced Biomaterials, Inc
http://www.hydroxyapatite.com
Gammex RMI
http://www.gammex.com
Interpore Cross International
http://www.interpore.com
I have contacted a number of the companies for further details. Plasma
Biotal Ltd have been very helpful in discussions about creating custom
products.
Also many thanks to Professor Liz Tanner for information about
hydroxyapatite composites;
"... we have a hydroxyapatite polyethylene composite with 40vol% HA but
the mechanical properties are below those of real bone, but the
biological response to the material is good." "We can make our composite
with 0-40vol% HA and this gives a range of radiographic densities,
40vol% is close to bone."
Regards
Adam Cutler
