  • Penn orthopaedic bioengineering faculty position

Below is the posting for an available tenure track faculty position in
orthopaedic bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania.....

    ----------------------------------------
    University Of Pennsylvania
    Tenure Track Faculty Positions

    Orthopaedic Bioengineering or Tissue Engineering
Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Bioengineering

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the School of Medicine and the
Department of Bioengineering in the School of Engineering and Applied
Science at the University of Pennsylvania are seeking applicants for tenure
track faculty positions in orthopaedic bioengineering or orthopaedic tissue
engineering. Positions are available with primary appointments in either
the medical school or the engineering school with membership in the
Institute for Medicine and Engineering at the University. Individuals will
be expected to contribute to both teaching and research and to develop an
independent extramurally funded research program as well as collaborate
with engineering, basic science, and clinical faculty. Applicants in a
variety of research areas will be considered.

The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory has recently completed a major
renovation including design of new laboratory facilities on campus,
purchase of new equipment, and the addition of new faculty, staff, and
students. This effort is aided by a Special Opportunity Award from the
Whitaker Foundation. The laboratories include capabilities for mechanical
testing at large and small scales, device and component fabrication, and
computing and image processing. Additional contiguous and collaborative
orthopaedic research laboratory activities are devoted to biologic,
biochemical, electron microscopic, tissue and cell culture, and histologic
studies of both hard and soft tissues. Additional advanced facilities are
available in Bioengineering, the Institute for Medicine and Engineering,
    and many other collaborating laboratories.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Bioengineering or in a related field
emphasizing biomedical engineering applications. Outstanding graduate
students nearing degree completion, postdoctoral fellows, or current
faculty members are welcome to apply. Consideration of candidates will
begin immediately. A letter of interest briefly outlining career plans, a
statement of research and teaching interests, a resume or curriculum vitae,
selected reprints of recent papers, and names and contact information for
five references should be sent to: Chair of Orthopaedic Bioengineering
Faculty Search Committee, University of Pennsylvania, McKay Orthopaedic
Research Laboratory, 424 Stemmler Hall, 36th and Hamilton Walk,
    Philadelphia, PA 19104-6081, Phone: 215-898-8653, FAX: 215-573-2133
