FOURTH TRIENNIAL INTERNATIONAL HAND AND WRIST BIOMECHANICS
SYMPOSIUM (second announcement)
IZMIR, TURKEY JUNE 15, 2001
The 4th Triennial International Hand and Wrist Biomechanics Symposium will be held in 2001 just after the 8th Congress of the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (Istambul, June 10-14, 2001). Following the Closing Ceremony of the IFSSH meeting, all delegates interested in participating at this specialized Symposium will fly together from Istambul to the city of Izmir, on the west coast of the Asian Turkey, a magnificent location with excellent meeting facilities, as well as interesting surroundings.
The plans are to dedicate the first day (Friday, June 15th, 2001) to the scientific program which will consist of both presentations and debates on different aspects of hand and wrist biomechanics. The second day (Saturday,June 16th, 2001) will consist of a guided tour to Izmir and Ephesus (Basilica of Saint John, last home of the Virgin Mary), ending with a gala dinner once back at the Hilton Hotel (Izmir). On Sunday morning a flight to Istambul will return the delegates in time to connect to their flights back home.
Scientific program: For those willing to participate in the scientific program, please send a one-page summary of your presentation by E-mail (Microsoft Word format preferred) to Dr. Marc Garcia-Elias (garciaelias@retemail.es) by March 31, 2001. Please include on the top of the page the title of your presentation, the names of the authors and their addresses. From all communications received, the scientific committee (Drs. Kai-Nan An, Frederick Werner, Ahmet Ekin, and Marc Garcia-Elias) will arrange a final program which will be made available on-line to those who either sent a communication or showed interest in attending the meeting.
Budget: Arrangements have been made with the Hilton Hotel at Izmir to host this event. Approximate prices: $100 single; $120 double room per day. Meeting facilities, including gala dinner: $85 per person. Excursion to Ephesus: $40 (lunch included). Round trip Istambul-Izmir-Istambul: $170 per person. All prices are approximate, thus subjected to minor changes.
Flight and Hotel Reservations: The organizing secretary for this event will be different from the one who will organize the IFSSH Congress.
