    Description:

    The Artificial Heart Research and Development Group at the McGowan
    Center for Artificial Organ Development of the University of Pittsburgh
    is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral fellowship in Biomechanics
    of Blood. The specific project is concerned with a cellular-based
    experimental and theoretical study of blood flow and trauma with
    emphasis on blood-wetted artificial organs. This research will be
    conducted within a multidisciplinary a research and design team
    consisting of clinicians, engineers and students. There is a strong
    collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University’s computer scientists and
    computational scientists and the Pittsburgh Supercomputer Center. The
    successful candidate will develop experimental techniques for and
    perform the study of micro fluid mechanics of blood flow.



    Qualifications:

    A Ph.D in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering or related
    discipline is required. Preference will be given to applicants with
    experience in tissue mechanics, cell mechanics, biorheology, and fluid
    mechanics. Excellent experimental skills would be valuable, with
    particular emphasis on flow visualization and/or microscopy.
