  • GRAs Available in ME or EE for Bioelasticity Imaging by RemoteSensing

Graduate Research Assistantship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
for Bioelasticity Imaging by Remote Sensing

The Ultrasonics Research Laboratory in the University of Kansas Medical
    Center's
Radiology Department is seeking outstanding ME and EE graduate students
    to study
the structural and elastic properties of biological tissues. The aims
    are to understand
changes that occur in the mechanical properties of soft tissues during
    disease processes,
design and build new medical imaging devices to measure these
    properties, and test these
    systems on patient populations.

This multidisciplinary research is currently funded by NIH, NSF, the
    Whitaker
Foundation for Biomedical Research, USAMRMC and industry. KU
    investigators
from Mechanical and Electrical Engineering are collaborating with
    scientists and
engineers in the School of Medicine, Departments of Radiology and
    Physiology,
    and engineers at other universities.
