UNIVERSITE DE LA MEDITERRANEE (Faculty of Sport Sciences) - CNRS
Laboratory of Aerodynamics and Biomechanics of Motion (LABM)
    BIOMECHANICS GROUP

The Biomechanics group of LABM at the Université de la Méditerranée is
searching for a full-professor position to head the Biomechanics Group.
Candidates should have a PhD in biomechanics, kinesiology, mechanics,
bioengineering, or related fields, with a demonstrated competence in
managing a research group, in publications, in generation of external
fundings and in links with the industrial field.
Requirements include an expertise in biomechanics, recovering numerical
modelling, experiments and comportemental protocols. The successful
applicant will be under the responsibility of the head of the laboratory he
(she) will be expected to provide leadership and to develop strong
externally funded research programs in the appropriate discipline. He (she)
will be strongly involved in Biomechanics and Engineering teaching at the
faculty of Sport Sciences and he (she) will be asked to assume high level
administration teaching-related responsibilities.Knowledge of the french
language is mandatory. Position start date: September 1, 2002

The LABM is a research structure belonging to the CNRS (Centre National de
la Recherche Scientifique) and to the Université de la Méditerranée. It is
located at Marseilles, in the south of France. Two groups, Aerodynamics and
Biomechanics, are under the responsibility of Daniel Favier, head of the
laboratory. The whole staff is about 25 composed with researchers,
    teaching-researchers, engineers, technicians, administrative, post-doctoral
fellows, invited senior researchers and graduate students. The major areas
of interest of LABM are in the domains of fluids Mechanics and fundamental
Aerodynamics, Motion Biomechanics and applications to sports in terms of
    modelling and simulation.

The Biomechanics group activity focuses on movement analysis i.e 3D
kinematics and dynamics, applied to posture, locomotion, and sports
situations. More specifically, this group is dealing with impact mechanics
and reflex activity linked with car collisions, sport techniques and with
aero-biomechanics optimization. Locomotion and posture control is also a
strong aspect of the group activity, where the somatosensory information are
manipulated. The group is involved in several European projects and is
leading external contracts with French sport federations and with sports
    industrials.
