    POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT


    POSITION: A tenure-track faculty research and teaching position (12-month basis) at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Biological & Agricultural Engineering, University of Georgia, Athens, GA.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching and research in the area of “mechanical” engineering. The individual will be expected to (1) provide quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the mechanical systems area, and (2) develop a scholarly interdisciplinary research program in the development and manufacturing of biobased products that supports a quality graduate
    engineering program. Additionally, the individual will be expected to secure extramural funding for research and teaching activities.

    The Department currently includes 44 faculty, 72 staff, 27 graduate students (Ph.D. and M.S.) and 220 undergraduate students. Teaching and research programs include emphases in mechanical systems, electrical/electronic systems, applied electrostatics, structural systems, bioprocessing, biomedical, metabolic engineering, decision support systems and intelligent controls.     QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in an engineering discipline with a strong background in mechanical systems. Preference will be given to candidates with at least one degree in mechanical engineering. Experience in teaching is desirable. The successful candidate must have the potential for effective instruction, scholarly research and innovative technology development.
