Postdoctoral/Research Associate Position
Neurological Sciences Institute
Oregon Health Sciences University
Candidates are invited to apply for a postdoctoral/research associate
position in a laboratory investigating the neural control of posture and
balance in an animal model. These studies combine electrophysiological
and biomechanical techniques to investigate the processing of
somatosensory and vestibular inputs and the organization of motor
outputs in the maintenance of balance during stance. Candidates with an
interest in systems neuroscience and with prior training in
neuroscience, physiology, biomechanics, or rehabilitation therapy are
encouraged to apply. Experience in animal research is desirable.
The Neurological Sciences Institute (NSI) is dedicated to the study of
the nervous system, from the molecular to the systems level. It
provides an interdisciplinary environment which is both supportive and
stimulating. NSI participates in the neuroscience graduate training
program of the Oregon Health Sciences University and it has a separate
fellowship program for undergraduate internships. Visit our web site
at http://www.ohsu.edu/nsi/
NSI is located in a modern, newly constructed facility on the Western
Campus of Oregon Health Sciences University on the outskirts of
Portland. Portland, located in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, is a
mecca for outdoor enthusiasts with miles of hiking trails and convenient
access to mountains and coast. The Columbia River gorge provides some
of the most scenic areas in the world and is a popular spot for
windsurfing.
The position is available now, and non-US citizens may apply (non-native
English speakers should submit TOEFL scores if available). Send CV,
names and contact information of two references to:
