Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Evaluation of Cemented Metallic Implants for
Pre-Clinical Prediction of Implant Loosening.
A postdoctoral research assistant position is available starting
immediately for a period of 12 months with the Ultrasonics Group of the
Department of Mechanical Engineering. The project will centre on the
development of novel ultrasonic methods for quantifying the failure
mechanisms related to the loosening of cemented hip joint replacements
during in vitro fatigue tests. The project is a collaboration with the
Bioengineering Sciences Group of the University of Southampton.
The post is funded by Action Research, intended for an individual with a
PhD in experimental physics, biomechanics, materials, ultrasound or related
subjects. The salary is on the RA1A scale of up to £19,482 plus £2,134
London Allowance.
