Dear Biomch-L Colleagues,
My department is currently looking for candidates who are qualified
for the position of Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Engineering
(tenure track) and I am writing to solicit you help in our
endeavor.
The candidate should have experience in Biomechanics or
Biomaterials with a Ph.D. or anticipated doctoral degree in
Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field. We anticipate
that the successful candidate will develop an independently funded
research program. The Orthopaedic Engineer's research will form
the basis for interactions with clinical and research faculty and
for teaching both in the Department of Orthopaedics and
Rehabilitation and in other departments throughout the University.
We would prefer to select a candidate who will be eligible for a
joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
Currently the department's research encompasses spinal cord injury,
musculoskeletal function including gait analysis, bone induction in
conjunction with prosthetic implants, and biochemical analysis of
extracellular matrix.
Excellent facilities are currently available for gait analysis and
for research on cellular and molecular biology. The successful
candidate will be given the opportunity to discuss how he or she
would establish a very strong research program since the
appropriate laboratory space and start-up funds for equipment will
be made available.
I would be very grateful if you could bring this opportunity to the
attention of strong students or postdoctoral fellows who are
qualified for the position. The job announcement follows:
