A Bioengineer or Post-doctoral fellow is required to join the
internationally recognized Balance Disorders Laboratory headed by Dr. Fay
Horak at the Neurological Sciences Institute of OHSU in Portland, OR.
The successful applicant will be actively involved in all aspects of
research with Neurological patients and healthy control subjects. The
function of the position includes, but is not limited to;
… Develop and update Data Analysis software for 3D kinematic and kinetic
(inverse dynamics, etc.) quantification of human gait and posture using 6
camera, realtime, Motion Analysis System (Santa Rosa).
… Collaborate with fellow neuroscientists on research projects providing
expertise in biomechanics.
… Participate in all aspects of research, including grant writing,
literature review, experimental design, subject preparation, data collection
and analysis, and written and oral presentation of results.
This exciting opportunity will allow the biomechanist to take a lead roll in
experiments using kinematics and kinetic data to address neuroscience
questions related to the role of sensory systems, the basal ganglia, and
cerebellar in control of posture and gait. Applicants should have an MS or
PhD in Biomechanics, Bioengineering or Kinesiology with experience with 3D
motion analysis, calculation of joint torques and foot pressure systems.
Knowledge of computer programming languages is essential and MATLAB
