    ANNOUNCEMENT OF FACULTY POSITION

    University of Virginia
    Curry School of Education
    Department of Human Services
    Kinesiology Program

    Position: Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure-track appointment,
    Athletic Training/Sports Medicine specialization.
    Appointment starting date: June or August, 2002

    Responsibilities: The faculty member will assume the role as
    program director of the NATA accredited graduate athletic training
    program, as well as contribute to instruction, scholarship, and
    service in the master's level athletic training and doctoral level
    sports medicine programs. Additional responsibilities include
    directing the Sports Medicine/Athletic Training Research Laboratory,
    curriculum development, placement of students at clinical sites,
    interaction with clinical supervisors, student performance
    evaluation, and student recruitment and selection. The faculty member
    will also be expected to seek external funding, and establish a
    programmatic line of research in his/her chosen area. Collaboration
    with other faculty in Kinesiology and the Curry School of Education,
    and interfacing with personnel at laboratory sites such as McCue
    Center, Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center, and the General
    Clinical Research Center of the Medical School is highly desirable.

    Qualifications: Earned doctorate in sports medicine or related field
    NATA-BOC Certification
    College/University teaching experience
    Demonstrated ability to conduct, publish, and present relevant research
    Record of chairing master's theses and/or doctoral dissertations
    Demonstrated desire and ability to secure external funding
    Interest in fostering interdisciplinary and collaborative research activities
