    Bioengineering Postdoctoral Position
    Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit

There is an immediate opening for a postdoctoral student in the Bone and
Joint Center of Henry Ford Hospital. The position is funded by a four
year NIH award to study the correlations between growth factor
distribution in human bone matrix and both the experimental and finite
element calculated mechanical properties of cancellous bone. The NIH
award has three years left in its current cycle. Our most pressing need
is for a person who combines an interest in mechanical testing with an
interest in computer analysis of stress and strain in hard tissues. The
biochemistry component of the project is covered, however, an
understanding of the processes of biochemical analysis of growth factors
would be useful for full understanding of the project.

The Bone and Joint Center has five senior investigators, including two
cell biologist/biochemists, a veterinarian and two mechanical
engineers. Junior investigators include a molecular biologist and a
mechanical engineer specialist in mechanical fatigue processes. In
addition to these investigators, there are 15 technical employees and a
variable number of summer and postdoctoral students.

The Center has a fully furnished biochemistry facility, mechanical
testing facility, machine shop, microcomputed tomography facility, cell
culture and motion analysis laboratory. All of these laboratories are
available to the student for their use on personal projects in addition
to that which funds the advertised position.

Please send CV's by e-mail or real mail to:
