RESEARCH ASSISTANT (Full-time ) in Orthopaedics
DUTIES:
1. Test and analyze motion analysis studies for clinical and
research patients
2. Maintain Motion and Performance Laboratory
3. Maintain Foot/Ankle Clinical Database
4. Perform literature searches and bibliography organization
5. Assist in writing grant applications, manuscripts and
abstracts
6. Assist in preparing and participating in conference
presentations
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's degree in biomechanics, biomedical engineering,
kinesiology, or other related field. (Candidates with only a Bachelor's
degree and the right experience will also be considered).
2. Experience working with motion analysis systems (Motion
Analysis Corporation, VICON, etc.)
3. High-level computer skills
4. Good verbal and written communication skills
5. Highly motivated and a self starter
6. Works well with people as co-workers and patients
7. Preference will be given to candidates with programming
experience in LabView
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center
contains two main core research laboratories, the Motion and Performance
Laboratory and the Biomechanics/Laser Laboratory. The Motion and
Performance Laboratory boasts a high-speed five camera Motion Analysis
System, AMTI force platform, treadmill, and 10 channel EMG system. This
laboratory is used for both clinical and research patients in the assessment
of motion dysfunctions. The Biomechanics/Laser Laboratory contains a
servo-mechanical MTS system and two high power laser systems. This
laboratory is used for various orthopaedic research projects including
orthopaedic device testing and our laser-tissue bonding research.
The position will be available on December 3, 2001. A competitive
