POSITION: Tenure track assistant/associate professor in exercise science
emphasizing fitness development through the lifespan with expertise in
strength and conditioning. Starting date: August 2002

QUALIFICATIONS: An appropriate Doctorate is preferred, but ABD near
completion will be considered. Preferred qualifications: Evidence of
teaching effectiveness at the university level, NSCA or ACSM
certification. Each candidate is expected to develop and maintain an
active research agenda in area of expertise.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach in the undergraduate majors and graduate physical
education/exercise science programs; assist in development of curricula in
area of expertise. Direct theses and independent studies and instruct in
other areas as needed. Develop and maintain active research agenda
resulting in refereed publications and professional presentations. Pursue
and obtain external funding. Provide service to the department, school,
university, community and/or professional organizations.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications with excellent fringe benefits.

THE UNIVERSITY: Indiana State University enrolls approximately 11,000
undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences and
in the Schools of Business, Education, Health and Human Performance,
Nursing, Technology, and Graduate Studies.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Physical Education is housed in the
School of Health and Human Performance. The Department offers a B.S.
degree with emphases in Teacher Education, Adult Fitness, and Exercise
Science, and M.S./M.A. degrees with emphases in Teacher Education, Adult
Fitness, Exercise Science, and Coaching. There are 16 faculty teaching
approximately 210 undergraduate majors and 35 graduate students. The
Department also delivers a Fitness for Life concepts class and a full array
