  • Bone Fluid Flow Meeting - Amsterdam 2002

Re: FOURTH BONE FLUID FLOW MEETING, - Bone Fluid Flow, Adaptation, and
    Regeneration - , May 6 and 7, 2002, Amsterdam. http://www.med.vu.nl/flow

    Scientific Committee:
    Elisabeth H. Burger, Ph.D.
    Theo H. Smit, Ph.D.
    Jenneke Klein-Nulend, Ph.D.

    Dear Collegue,

On behalf of the scientific committee we would like to invite you to the
Fourth Bone Fluid Flow Meeting which will take place in Amsterdam, The
Netherlands, May 6 and 7, 2002. Mechanotransduction in bone, and its
relation to adaptation and regeneration of bone tissue is an exciting
rapidly growing area of research. After three succesful Workshops on this
topic in New York (1998, 2000) and Phoenix (2001), we will now have the
Fourth Bone Fluid Flow Meeting for the first time across the Atlantic.

The meeting will consist of plenary lectures introduced by the chair,
followed by oral presentations by invited speakers and presentations
selected from abstracts. In keeping with earlier meeting's, we also aim for
an informal atmosphere, to foster discussion and the exchange of new ideas,
theories, and techniques, and an audience of about 100 participants.

We have a website: http://www.med.vu.nl/flow with lots of information,
including hotels. The meeting itself will be at the Vrije Universiteit
campus, in the Main Building, De Boelelaan 1105, Amsterdam, in the
    Auditorium.

The program includes the following sessions:
Bone structure, poroelasticity, and fluid flow
    Osteocyte function
    Damage and remodeling
Bone regeneration in oral and orthopaedic surgery
Enriched bone substitutes and stimulation of regeneration

We would appreciate your active participation in this meeting. We have now
12 travel awards for participants presenting their work. We encourage you to
submit an abstract and come to the meeting! To apply for a travel award, you
must submit a one page abstract before February 2, 2002 (02-02-2002).
Details about submission and registration can be found on our website. This
is the first time this workshop is helt in Europe, and we hope for a good
    European input!

Looking forward to welcoming you to Amsterdam in May 2002.
    Jenneke Klein-Nulend
