Hi,
We had a Flock system a few years ago in our labn and eventually sent
it back, as we were unable to properly use it for several reasons:
- We have a relatively small space in New York City, so the system
was never far from a floor or wall with metal studs.
- Beware the automatic gain control! We had an issue (at least with
the extended range transmitter) where if the distance from the
transmitter to the birds changed too greatly over time, the automatic
gain control would kick in, and cause very large artifacts in the
data we collected. This was not due to metal interference, as we
could duplicate the situation in the middle of someone's lawn in his
backyard. So, whatever test you're doing, try to make sure the
distance from your birds to the transmitter stays constant.
