  • optimal human gait & work on various inclines

    Hi everyone,

Given some slope, I'd like to calculate the minimum energy required for a person to walk up (and down) that slope.

I searched the biomch-l archives and found this useful summary of answers for a similar question from January 1999:
    http://isb.ri.ccf.org/biomch-l/archives/biomch-l-1999-01/00161.html

I was wondering if you may be aware of more recent, relevant literature. Also, my focus is on the OPTIMAL gait for a given incline (i.e., the minimum calories per distance travelled), which is slightly different than the question from Jan 1999.

Thanks. I will summarize if there are sufficient responses.

    -John K.
