    Dear Biomch-L subscribers,

We received a report of virus infection from a subscriber who has posted
a few times to Biomch-L in the past months. She received the virus from
another subscriber and the only way that the e-mail address of the victim
could have been stored on the computer that sent the virus was through her
Biomch-L postings. Therefore a virus warning on Biomch-L is appropriate.

The virus e-mails itself as an attachment with various names.
Also the virus is particularly nasty because it infects Microsoft Outlook
users even if they do not click on the attachment! Fortunately it does
not do great damage except for creating a security risk by trying to
obtain your passwords. It seems relatively easy to remove.

    You are at risk if
    - you have posted to Biomch-L in the past
    - you use Outlook, or have clicked on strange attachments

I encourage all subscribers who think they are at risk to check whether they
currently are infected by this virus. You are infected if your system has
    the file C:\Windows\System\Kdll.dll (on WinNT/Win2000: C:\WINNT\system\Kdll.dll).
