  • Orthopedic University Hospital Heidelberg: Research Position in Gait Analysis

    RESEARCH ASSISTANT GAIT ANALYSIS:

    STIFTUNG ORTHOPÄDISCHE UNIVERSITÄTSKLINIK HEIDELBERG

Funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and starting immediately,
the Stiftung Orthopädische Universitätsklinik Heidelberg offers a research
assistant position in the field of computer-assisted gait analysis.

The research group is located in Germany's largest rehabilitation institute
    for
spinal cord injured people (8000 patients since 1957). Our research projects

have a strongly interdisciplinary background. Clinically, the main interest
    lies
in the objective documentation and the evaluation of therapy approaches in
paraplegic patients. The engineering part focuses on the development of new
measurement technologies and rehabilitative devices in the field of
    rehabilitation
engineering. The laboratory equipment includes several movement analysis
systems (e.g. EvaRT, Motion Analysis) connected to an instrumented treadmill
    and various powerful computing systems.

Cooperating partners for this particular DFG research project is the
Institute of Applied Informatics (IAI) at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe
    (FZK).
The main focus of this cooperation lies in the application of computational
    intelligence
methods to gait analysis data for diagnosis support.

The successful candidate should have a degree in computer science,
    engineering,
physics or any related field. Responsibilities include the acquisition,
    evaluation
and analysis of gait data as well as programming and visualization tasks
    under
a custom made data base environment. Extensive knowledge of Windows based
software is required, experience with computer assisted measurement
    technology
and/or Matlab programming is an asset.

Financing is guaranteed for two years with possible extension and the salary
    will
depend on age and marital status according to 0.5 BAT 2A.

Interested candidates may send their informal application to:
