IV World Congress of Biomechanics
August 4-9, 2002
Calgary Canada
Opening Lecture
Sunday, August 4th, 2002 at 17:30
Dr. Steven Chu, Nobel Laureate
"Looking at Biological Processes, One Molecule at a Time."
Dr. Steven Chu won the 1997 Physics Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking research in
laser cooling and trapping of atoms. Combining this research with DNA and molecular
biology work, Dr. Chu was able to simultaneously visualize and manipulate individual
molecules of DNA. This led to the discovery of "molecular individualism" in polymer
dynamics.
The 4th World Congress on Biomechanics is being held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It
features an Opening Ceremony with Reception, 5 Plenary Speakers, 25 Invited
Speakers, over 80 Symposia Sessions, free communication and poster sessions.
Additionally, two Satellite Symposia are held prior to the Congress.
