First Announcement: 2002 GCMAS Student Conference Awards

[This message is being cross-posted on multiple lists. Please accept an
apology for any duplication in distribution.]

The Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS) is pleased to
announce the availability of thirteen GCMAS Student Conference Awards to
support student participation in the 2002 GCMAS Annual Meeting, to be held
on April 17-20, 2002 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. These awards are being
funded through a grant from The Whitaker Foundation, which provides support
of conferences that enhance the field of biomedical engineering. Each
student award of $615 will be used to cover the expense of registering for
two tutorials, the conference, and a Saturday clinical symposium. The
balance of the award will be credited to the student's hotel
room. Information about the 2002 GCMAS Annual Meeting is available on the
    WWW at http://www.utc.edu/gait2002/

Award recipients will be selected on a competitive basis from among the
pool of student applicants. Application is open to full-time and part-time
students in biomedical engineering and other disciplines relevant to
movement analysis. Membership in the GCMAS is not a requirement for an
award. The selection criteria will include: motivation to attend the
meeting (communicated through a statement on the award application); area
of study (preference will be given to engineering students); membership in
the GCMAS; involvement in a movement analysis laboratory; level of
participation in the conference (presenting or co-authoring a paper); and
    academic performance.

The application form and detailed instructions for applying can be
downloaded from the meeting WWW page
(http://www.utc.edu/gait2002/). Applications should be submitted as early
as possible, and not later than February 1, 2002. Please direct any
questions about this award to me at steve-piazza@psu.edu.

We look forward to receiving your application, and to seeing you at the
    2002 GCMAS Annual Meeting.

    Best regards,
    Steve Piazza
    Selection Committee Chairperson
