    The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences at Ithaca College
    announces the following open faculty position:

    Assistant Professor of Biomechanics

    This tenure-eligible position begins August 15, 2002. Duties: teach
    undergraduate biomechanics, pursue scholarly activity, advise students,
    and perform professional service. Other areas of teaching may include
    ergonomics and anatomy/physiology. The biomechanics course focuses
    on movement mechanics in exercise and sport, posture and gait, and
    activities of daily living. The candidate will be expected to use 2D video
    analysis (familiarity with 3D desirable), force plates, EMG, and related
    biomechanics instrumentation. Ability to integrate teaching and research
    with existing departmental emphases desirable (e.g., athletic training,
    movement dysfunction). Required qualifications: Ph.D. in biomechanics,
    exercise science, or related field (ABD considered, Ph.D. conferred by
    appointment date); demonstrated teaching competency; and demonstrated
    ability to conduct scholarly activity.

    Salary is based on a 9 month contract and is competitive and commensurate
    with experience and credentials.

    Ithaca College: Ithaca College is a private residential, comprehensive
    institution of approximately 6100 students. The college offers 93 undergraduate
    degree programs within five schools, as well as 16 master’s degrees
    across five fields.

    The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences is housed within the School
    of Health Sciences and Human Performance. The School of HSHP consists
    of eight departments and grants Bachelor’s degrees in 18 majors. The school
    has 75 full-time faculty, 24 staff, and approximately 1,250 undergraduate
    students. The School also grants Master of Science degrees in Exercise and
    Sport Sciences, Teachers of Speech and Hearing Handicapped, Speech
    Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. The
    Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences consists of 17 full-time faculty
    and one full time staff. The Department offers three baccalaureate degree
    programs including athletic training, clinical exercise science, and
    exercise science.

    The Community: Ithaca is a small city located at the southern tip of Cayuga
    Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region in upstate New York. Year-round
    recreational opportunities abound. Cornell University is also located in Ithaca.
