  • LAST CALL FOR PAPERS - ICMMB12-SYMPOSIUM SKELETAL MUSCLEBIOMECHANICS

    Dear Colleagues,

As has already been announced, the above Symposium on SKELETAL MUSCLE
    BIOMECHANICS
will take place as an integral part of the 12th International Conference on
Mechanics in Medicine and Biology, to be held on the magnificent Greek island of
Lemnos from 9 to 13 September 2002. The contents of the presentations will focus
on "Muscle Models: Fundamentals and Practical Applications".

HIGHLIGHTS of the Symposium will be KEYNOTE LECTURES by internationally renowned
experts in muscle research, and a ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION SESSION on FUTURE
    DIRECTIONS IN SKELETAL MUSCLE RESEARCH.

The EXPERTS delivering KEYNOTE LECTURES are (in alphabetical order):

Scott DELP (Professor of Biomechanical Engineering, Stanford
    University, USA)
Walter HERZOG (Professor of Biomechanics, University of Calgary, Canada)
Neville HOGAN (Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Brain and Cognitive
    Sciences,
Director of the Newman Biomechanics Laboratory,
    Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA)
Peter HUIJING (Professor of Biomechanics and Physiology, Free University
    Amsterdam, Netherlands)
Robert RIENER (Muscle Biomechanics Researcher, Technical University Munich,
    Germany)

The Symposium will feature a high-level ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION SESSION with
participation of the experts and the audience, with the aim of identifying those
topics that will determine the future directions in biomechanical skeletal
    muscle research.

PAPERS ARE SOLICITED on fundamental and applied topics relating to all aspects
of modeling the function and structure of skeletal muscle. Papers of a
sufficiently high standard will be PUBLISHED AS FULL JOURNAL PAPERS in a special
issue of a reputed journal like "International Journal on Mechanics in Medicine
    and Biology".

If you feel you would like to contribute to this historic event and participate
in a memorable muscle symposium of an exceptionally high standard, you should
send an ABSTRACT that complies with the format
outlined below to Prof. T. K. Karalis at , BEFORE 15
FEBRUARY 2002. Details about the conference are available on
    http://utopia.duth.gr/~tkaral/

ABSTRACT FORMAT REQUIREMENTS as laid down by Prof. Karalis:

    ABSTRACTS REQUIREMENTS FOR AUTHORS

The items listed below are the minimum requirements for the Abstracts.

You may use the following as a checklist before submitting your Abstract.

Addresses: Please makes sure your manuscript has current, and complete
    addresses for all
authors and co-authors. If e-mail and fax numbers are available, these are very
    helpful.
Also, please keep us updated with any address changes.

Abstract: The Abstract must be of 500 words, and the maximum length is a 3A4.
    The Abstract
must include: (I) Introduction and Objectives, (ii) methods, and (iii) Results
    and Conclusions.

Keywords: A maximum of 5 keywords should be provided.

Figures & Graphs: The format for graphs, charts, and all other illustrations is
    PostScript.
We will try to work with any electronic format that we receive.

References: If references are added they must be numbered sequentially in the
    order of their
    appearance in the text.

Electronic Versions: You may be able to reduce the time necessary for the
typesetting process if you supply a digital version of your Abstract by E-mail.
Otherwise any version can be supplied on a 3.5 inch floppy diskette (formatted
to DOS), otherwise indicate the software used and a formatted version on the
    diskette .

Copies: If you prefer the surface mail please submit 2 COPIES of your Abstract

    We appreciate your cooperation.

    Prof. T.K.Karalis
