Graduate Fellowship in Movement Sciences for a Certified Athletic
    Trainer

The Department of Human Kinetics at the University of Wisconsin -
Milwaukee offers a Master of Science degree program emphasizing research
in the human movement sciences. The program provides instruction and
research opportunities for students interested in studying the
biopsychosocial aspects of human movement. The curriculum represents
the integration of the body of knowledge fundamental to the science of
human movement through study in at least three of the five
sub-disciplines represented by faculty in the program (Biomechanics,
Exercise Physiology, Motor Control, Psychological Aspects of Physical
Activity and Sociological Aspects of Physical Activity). The current
    faculty/staff of 12 includes one PhD-ATC with a second PhD-ATC
credentialed individual joining the faculty in August 2002.

The fellowship is available to support a Certified Athletic Trainer who
wishes to pursue movement science research as a means to enhance
clinical practice and contribute to the scientific foundation of
athletic training. The fellowship recipient will be selected from the
applicant pool on the basis of academic credentials, professional goals
and interest in research. Only students accepted to the Human Kinetics
graduate program will be considered for Fellowship support.

    Criteria for consideration:
    1. GRE scores (Verbal + Quantitative = c.1100)
    2. Undergraduate grade point average (minimum of 3.00 on 4.0 scale)
    3. Appropriate coursework history
    4. NATABOC Certified or exam eligible

Program application may be made online
(http://www.uwm.edu/Dept/Grad_Sch/) or materials may be obtained by

Graduate Program Coordinator, Dr. Barbara Hart (414.229.6080 or
    hart@uwm.edu). Our web-site
    (http://www.uwm.edu/SAHP/gp/hk/ghkmenu.html ) has additional helpful
    information.

    Fellowship applicants shall also submit:
    1. A formal letter requesting consideration for fellowship support
including description of academic and professional goals.
    2. A resume/vita that presents information relevant to education
    and athletic training clinical experience.
    3. Two letters of recommendation attesting to the candidate's
    academic and professional abilities.

Candidates may include their Fellowship application materials along
with their documentation for admission to the program. For full
consideration for Fellowship support, materials must be received by
    March 15, 2002.

Appointments begin August 19, 2002 and are for one academic year (9
months), renewable, and dependent on funding. Fellowship recipients
will be required to enroll in a minimum of 6 semester hours to maintain
eligibility. Fellowships carry a waiver of tuition plus a stipend of
approximately $10,000 per academic year. Students are responsible to
