You will find below the announcement of the fourth Virtual Reality International Conference which will take place in Laval (France) from 19 - 21 June 2002 during Laval Virtual gathering, the first European event dedicated to Virtual Reality technologies and supported by European Commission / IST program.

Laval Virtual is a major conference for the international community of scientific, professional
and casuel users of Virtual Reality. The aim is to share experiences, to develop the impact of
and the community surrounding Virtual Reality. The VRIC Conference is organised in half days
sessions chaired and introduced by international experts in Virtual Reality.
We seek high-quality papers in all area of Virtual Reality. We welcome either theoretical
or applied research papers.
TOPICS include but are not restricted to the following aspects:

We welcome proposals for workshops, tutorials and demonstrations of applications and tools.
SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
The International Program Committee requests prospective authors to send a full paper for review.
All submissions must be written in English, starting with a succinct statement of the problem, the
results achieved, their significance and a comparison with previous work. All submissions must be
received by March, 15, 2002 on the submission web site.
The submission should also include: title of proposed paper, authors names, affiliations, addresses,
name of author to contact for correspondence, e-mail address of contact author, topics which best
describe the paper (max. 5 keywords) and a short abstract.
Full papers: minimum 4 pages single-spaced, maximum 10 pages single-spaced;
Font to be used: Times; Characters size: 10 pt for text, 14 pt bold for title, 12 pt bold for section titles
and 10 pt bold for sub-section titles; Paper format: two-column DIN A4 format; Margins: top,
bottom, left, right = 2,5 cm, no page numbers please, Word.doc or pdf format appreciated.

SESSIONS
The program of each session will be composed of:
- A 45 minutes keynote presentation given by the invited speaker,
- 30 minutes scientific talks selected by the international program committee,
- Poster presentations, which will also be included in the conference proceedings.
The conference languages are both English and French with simultaneous translation
(the speaker choose the language he prefers).
PROCEEDINGS
Conference proceedings, in English, (including all accepted papers) will be published in English
and will be available for the delegates at the symposium in printed form.
A special issue of IJODIR (International Journal of Design and Innovation Research)
will be published with the conference's best papers.
