    The Department Orthopaedics at Brown Medical School located within
    Rhode Island Hospital is seeking applicants for a faculty position in
    Bioengineering at the Assistant Professor level and supported by the
    Department. The position is within the Bioengineering Laboratory.
    The ideal candidate will have research interests complimenting our
    existing areas including wrist, spine, and foot biomechanics, as well
    as soft tissue research, and specializing in solid mechanics and
    advanced in vivo image analysis. Other focus areas of the Laboratory
    include a strong sports injury prevention program and an orthopaedic
    and sports product testing service. Applicants should be interested
    in further developing their own research interests in orthopaedic
    biomechanics.

    The primary teaching responsibilities of the position are for
    orthopaedic residents. The candidate will also be expected to
    qualify for an Adjunct appointment in the Division of Engineering and
    to participate in the new Biomedical Engineering Program at Brown
    University. The level of teaching involvement at Brown University
    can be defined by the candidate.

    The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., a record of independent
    orthopaedic and engineering research; a record of extramural research
    funding; a record of publication in peer-reviewed journals; and a
    proven ability to work closely with residents, medical students,
    undergraduate and graduate engineers, and practicing orthopaedic
    surgeons.
