Postdoctoral Position Immediately Available in
Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University is looking
for a motivated individual to fill a postdoctoral position in the Bone
Bioengineering Laboratory starting immediately. The qualified person
should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in the field of Biomedical Engineering
(Biomechanics) or Cellular & Molecular Biology. The applicant with
biomedical engineering background should have a strong interest in the
interface of biology and biomechanics while one with biological background
should have a strong desire to expand and explore the new field of
biomedical engineering. Knowledge of animal experimentation and
cellular/molecular biology will be a plus. The focus of the Bone
Bioengineering Laboratory and its collaborating laboratories in the
Department of Biomedical Engineering (Cellular Engineering Laboratory,
Directed by Professor Clark T. Hung; Biomaterials and Interface Tissue
Engineering Laboratory, Directed by Professor Helen H. Lu) on the in vivo
and in vitro studies of musculoskeletal tissues and cell response to
mechanical and hormone stimuli and musculoskeletal tissue engineering. The
person to be recruited is expected to be a part of the team with several
Biomedical Engineering and bone biology faculty members, and both graduate
and undergraduate students. The candidate is expected to develop his/her
independent research initiatives in the area of musculosketal
bioengineering. The initial appointment will be for one year and is
