POSITION
Nine month Adjunct Assistant Professor in Biomechanics. The successful
candidate will be eligible to apply for the tenure-track position in
Biomechanics once the position has been approved for a full search.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics (which includes
functional anatomy, kinesiology, and laboratory exercises) for students in
exercise science, pre-physical therapy, health promotion, and health
enhancement; advise undergraduate and graduate students in exercise science
and pre-physical therapy; supervise graduate thesis research and work in a
team environment in the Movement Science/Human Performance Laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS
The position requires an earned doctorate in biomechanics (ABD considered)
and experience teaching undergraduate biomechanics. Preference will be
given to those candidates who demonstrate: Background to teach graduate
biomechanics; Experience in the use of biomechanics lab equipment;
Experience with the multidisciplinary nature of biomechanics research; A
record of scholarly activity including peer-reviewed publications and/or
presentations; Ability to collaborate with Exercise Physiology and /or
Nutrition and Exercise faculty. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Excellence in written and oral communication skills; Ability to apply
biomechanics principles to a variety of human movement areas: sport,
rehabilitation, ergonomics, health and fitness; Understanding of the role
of biomechanics within movement science across the life span; Willingness
to work with diverse populations.
CURRENT BIOMECHANICS LABORATORY EQUIPMENT
2 AMTI force plates mounted within a 17 m walkway; Biometrics
electrogoniometers; preamplified surface electrodes; 2 National Instruments
A/D boards with Labview software; 3 Panasonic AG450 camcorders; 2 JVC
genlockable 60 Hz cameras; 2 Redlake high speed digital motion meter
cameras (250 fps) and Peak Motus 3D automatic digitizing system.
