Two Research Positions
Bone and Joint Center

Head, Biochemistry: Qualifications include completion of a Ph.D. in
biochemistry, cell biology or molecular biology that is related to some
aspect of the musculoskeletal system.
Soft Tissue Musculoskeletal Research: Qualifications include a Ph.D. in
bioengineering, biology, anatomy or a related field with an emphasis on
the biological and mechanical behavior of musculoskeletal soft tissues
in vivo. Experience in motion analysis desirable.
The successful applicants will join a multidisciplinary team currently
consisting of five independently NIH funded investigators, each heading
complementary programs examining various aspects of the musculoskeletal
system. Clinical collaborations are facilitated via a strong, active
clinical orthopaedics group. The research team has expertise in and
facilities for motion analysis, biomechanics, musculoskeletal modeling,
computational mechanics, animal models, anatomy, cell biology,
histology, biochemistry and molecular biology. In addition to these
standard research facilities, the Center houses a unique stereo X-ray
system designed for human in vivo measurement of bone, joint and soft
tissue dynamics at rates up to 1000 images per second.
The applicants will be expected to develop vigorous, independent, NIH
funded research programs and will be expected to participate in and
contribute to the research activities of other investigators in the Bone
and Joint Center. Preference will be given to applicants with
postdoctoral experience and demonstrated strong research potential.
