Human Movement Sciences/Physical Therapy
We invite applications for two faculty positions:
1) Physical Therapy Program Coordinator: Applicants for the
tenured/tenure-track (assistant/associate/full professor) program
coordinator position will hold an earned doctorate in the Movement
Sciences or related fields, and an undergraduate or graduate degree in
Physical Therapy (eligible for Wisconsin licensure). He/she will be
expected to provide instruction and academic/administrative leadership
for the DPT Program (pending review and approval) in the Department of
Human Movement Sciences. Participation in the College of Health Sciences
PhD Program (pending review and approval) is also encouraged. We seek
individuals with experience in university instruction, administration,
funding, and with an active line of research related to one or more of
the movement science disciplines applied to physical therapy.
2) Human Movement Scientist/Physical Therapist: Applicants for the
tenured/tenure-track (assistant/associate professor) position will hold
an earned doctorate in the Movement Sciences or related fields (e.g.,
biomechanics, motor control, health psychology), and an undergraduate or
graduate degree in Physical Therapy (eligible for Wisconsin licensure).
He/she will be expected to develop and provide instruction in the
bachelors and masters and doctoral programs (i.e., BS, MS in
Kinesiology, DPT) in the Department of Human Movement Sciences, and in
the College of Health Sciences PhD Program (pending review and
approval).
UWM is an urban research university located on a 90-acre campus near
Lake Michigan, and one of two doctoral degree granting institutions in
the University of Wisconsin System. The Department of Human Movement
Sciences instructional/research facilities include Biomechanics, Motor
Control/Learning, Psychology, Sociology, Athletic Training, Exercise
Physiology, and Human Performance Laboratories. Construction of a
10,000 square foot facility including offices and laboratories for
Physical Therapy related research and instruction begins Spring 2003.
Application Procedures: Applications should include a letter describing
the applicant's administrative history/philosophy (position 1 only),
research agenda, curriculum vitae, official PT and doctoral program
transcripts, samples of published research, and contact information for
three references. Review of applications to begin November 8, 2002 and
